The new year is always a time for looking back on your past 12 months, and vowing to change things up for the next year. This has never been more true for me than for the transition between 2012 and 2013. While there were highlights to this last year, I haven’t come close to achieving what I set out to achieve at the beginning of 2012, and I am hoping for a fresh start on those goals this year. In order to stay on track I want to work towards maintaining this blog to motivate myself and maybe a couple of others along the way. I racked my brain for New Year’s resolutions and hard goals that I wanted to set, but when it really came down to it, my goal is to look back a year from now and feel like I spent my time working towards becoming the person I want to be going forward. Since “be better” is a vague goal that seems a little obvious, cliché and doomed for failure, I think the best thing I can do is resolve to learn something new, every day, for 365 days. I truly believe that knowledge is power and if I can learn more about the subjects and skills that I have always wanted, then this year will help set me on the right path and give me some insight on myself and what I love.like.loathe. My hope is that people will follow this blog, learning new things, and teaching what we have learned to each other. As with many a resolution of years past, there is always a chance that this blog will sit abandoned somewhere around the 14th or 15th of January, but wish me luck anyway, and let’s keep each other inspired to learn 365 new things we didn’t know in 2012.
